The latter bleeds metaphorically and transfers its own traumas to new encounters, such as people who have experienced betrayal or abandonment and now carry with them fears of commitment and trust.

Drowning is a silent death
The image shows relaxed hands and calm waves, symbolizing defenseless drowning. It represents those who are unaware that they are already drowning, whether due to burnout, addiction, or non-obvious issues such as depression. It also represents those who cannot see a way out or ask for help and therefore continue to sink inexorably.

Pleasing Puppeteer
The painting addresses "people pleasing" and the associated dynamics of adapting to others. The people pleaser does not act out of genuine affection, but out of fear of rejection and manipulates in order to be liked. This is illustrated in the painting by two hands: the upper, strenuous hand of the puppeteer shows the painful sacrifices of the people pleaser, while the lower, comfortable hand represents the advantages of the other person.
The palms of the hands, one hidden in shadow and the other open and bright, symbolize the suppressed needs of the people pleaser versus the fulfilled desires of the other. The painting aims to encourage the viewer to reflect on their own behavior and recognize the importance of personal boundaries.
The golden puppet strings of connection, a reminder that not everything that glitters is really gold.
